As the days of 2014 wind slowly to a close I’ve been thinking a lot about the goings-on of my business and work over the past year. Last year my friend Julia encouraged me to look back over 2013 and capture my successes and failures and it was such a useful activity so this year I’m at it again, taking notes of all I’ve accomplished in 2014. Here I’d like to particularly highlight the people who helped me along the way.

My mother and I have been doing a gratitude journal with each other for about two years now. In those posts back and forth to each other we usually come up with three things that we’re grateful about for each day – sometimes four things if we’ve had a really good day! Well I’ve had an amazing year so here are my four things of people that I’m grateful for over the course of 2014:

1. I’m grateful for the people that referred others to me and for contracts that developed from those referrals over the past year. For all the people who talk about me to others and say nice things outside of my presence totally unprompted just because you think I do good work and am a good person, I’m truly humbled.

2. I’m grateful for the people who have been my supervisors/management contacts for the larger pieces of work that I’ve undertaken this year: Joan, Susan, BJ, Shaun, Jennifer and Gaynor. I’ve enjoyed working with each and every one of you.

3. I’m grateful for the friends that I’ve had phone conversations, emails and coffee meetings with, who have given me support and ideas and just plain laughs. Like Anne of Green Gables, I have always held great esteem for “kindred spirits” and I’m lucky to say that I have many. I’m grateful also for my Victoria Facilitators Group who come together and support each other in knowing how to do this work and these types of businesses with graciousness and attitudes of abundance.

4. And, as always, my family remains a rock to me. I’m grateful for my husband and daughter, my parents and my brother. I am lucky enough to be able to say that they believe in me ultimately, which helps buoy my own motivation and keeps me striving for the best work life possible. I’m so lucky to have all of them in my life.

It’s been a great year and I’m looking forward to planning soon for 2015! Merry Christmas everyone.
